The "Community and Youth" of the
St. Croix Underage Drinking Coalition. Since the existence has continued
to form new partnerships throughout St. Croix County. Through county
meetings each community has focused on alcohol and drug free youth
activities.
One example is Hudson, Roberts,
and New Richmond and their respective communities have formed youth
centers for youth from ages 11 through 18 this is done through a
partnership of the YMCA and community partners.
The youth center idea came from
the success of Hudson Community Action taking the lead and forming
"Coffee House Live", this is where youth bands play nearly every
Saturday night from 7 - 10pm through out the year. The attendance
of "Coffee House Live" has risen to over 100 youth per night attending
an alcohol and drug free event.
This year the partnership has
expanded through an event of the Coordinated Resource to Meth Committee,
to over three counties with participating in Community Forms on
Methamphetamines. The coalition had a booth on gateway drugs at
each forum.
A goal for the community part
of the coalition is to partner with groups on the education of drug
use where needed to keep our youth safe.
